From Grit to Graphs

From Grit to Graphs - A summary of Kane St Quintin’s appearance on the Getting your Dux in a row podcast.

Introduction

Before Visibly was a product, it was a frustration.

On the Getting Your Dux in a Row podcast, our founder Kane St Quintin sat down with Jason Windle to talk about his journey from running a family highways business to building Visibly.

What started with site visits, shift work, and spreadsheet chaos became a mission to make things better for the entire industry and everybody working in it.

Step 1: Fix compliance - not by ticking more boxes, but by freeing people up to actually make a difference.

Key Takeaways

1. People want impact, not paperwork

Kane shared how most safety professionals are spending the majority of their time moving data and chasing minimum compliance, leaving little to no time on real-world safety improvements.

His vision for Visibly is to flip that ratio on its head.

“What if we could 4x the impact every HSEQ professional had - just by automating the admin? Imagine what they would do.”

2. The status quo isn’t good enough anymore

Compliance and ultimately fulfilling the requirements of H&S legislation based on policies and annual checks might have been reasonable 20 years ago.

But now? With the technology available? It's no longer enough.

“What was ‘reasonable’ 30 years ago isn’t good enough today. You can’t hide behind annual checks when real-time data is reasonable practicable.”

3. Frontline-first tech is non-negotiable

Many platforms are built for managers, not workers. Visibly reversed that logic.

It’s designed so that the people on site - the ones in the customer’s home or arriving on the M25 at 10pm for a night shift - actually use it.

Not because they’re forced to, but because it’s faster, simpler, and gives them something back.

“Try getting a construction worker to love your product. If it doesn’t save them time or help them grow, it’s just another burden.”

4. Admin doesn’t keep people safe. Action does.

Compliance can’t be a box-ticking exercise. It has to be a way to help people perform better, feel safer, and grow. That means using digital systems to do the grunt work - so HSEQ leaders can focus on what matters.

“We’re not here to help people do 1,000 tasks faster. We’re here to take 800 of those tasks away - so they can finally do the work that matters.”
